Although I haven’t particularly been enjoying the cold spell, I have at least got used to it. This is a little more like the winters I remember from when I was younger, although still missing the large quantities of snow. It is now well below zero and likely to remain so for a few days.
I find it quite funny how as a nation we have forgotten to deal with this kind of weather and that none of the modern transport systems is designed to deal with a little fall of snow. Also the advice to wrap up from various government agencies seems a little forced. Surely that is common-sense in this weather.
Most of the local news has been about the dastardly grit thieves who have been out and about stealing grit from those public grit bins dotted around various villages and towns for the use of the elderly and vulnerable. Apparently people have been emptying these and using the grit on their private drives. Ah! What MPs have been reduced to since we cottoned onto the expenses scandal!
