Today has been the real first day of spring in Lincolnshire with lots of sun, a few fluffy clouds and a warm breeze. Nearly all the spring flowers are up, daffodils, hyacinths, violets , cowslips and the usual collection of unidentifiable gifts from old friends, names of friends and plants long forgotten. With the change to summertime, there is now plenty of light and the usual winter depression is beginning to fade. As this has been the first real winter that we have had for about fifteen years it seems that it has been dark for months, much longer than usual. Today seemed a real gift.
There has been much hilarity on the internet at the antics of Simon Heffer and the Daily Telegraph towards the outcome of the G-20. I was very sceptical of the outcome from the a vaguely lefty point of view, theirs is extremely sceptical from a point of view so right wing, you would think capitalism was the invention of a heavenly host. Google the Telegraph and give yourself a laugh, but don’t linger too long on those pages; neocon views are infectious, it could damage your mental health!
