Its been another fantastic day here in England or at least Lincolnshire and most of the day fairly warm. Things are looking up.
I’ve just finished a long conversation with a friend in London on Skype, the first time I’ve used the video facility and it is so superior to any of the other free services on the internet. If this keeps up, how much longer will conventional telephone systems be able to keep going? I could hear Malcolm as clear as a bell and the video quality was quite good. My only gripe with Skype at the moment is that with their latest offering (Skype 4 on the PC) they have removed the Skype Me mode from the list. This was very useful if you wanted to practice speaking a foreign language or set up an intercambio. People can no longer see if you are willing to accept calls without adding you to their contact list.
I used a headset but Malcolm, who was using a Mac system had an integrated microphone and I could hear him clearly wherever he was in his sitting room. Hmmmm! Is it time to change or should I just upgrade my comms system on the PC?
